7 Layer Bars

You know you are from the midwest if you love the bars!

This is a family recipe, but once again I have tweaked it to my liking. Graham cracker crust, chocolate and butterscotch chips, coconut and pecans are so amazing together! I have yet to meet a dessert recipe that wasn’t better with some sweetened condensed milk. I prefer the mini chocolate chips, as it feels like you have a higher chocolate ratio in each bar. I have used both sweetened and unsweetened coconut – both work. Don’t like pecans? Use another nut!

The bars assemble quickly, cook for a mere 30 minutes and don’t take long to cool. Promise no one will complain if you show up with a pan of these to any event!

  • 1 stick butter, melted

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

  • 1 package butterscotch chips

  • 1 cup coconut flakes

  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Melt butter and pour into 9×13 pan. Sprinkle graham crumbs over butter and stir to combine.
  • Add next four ingredients in layers. Drizzle can of sweetened condensed milk over top, ensuring you get the edges.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool and cut into small squares.
