Big Mac Salad Bowl

Big Mac Salad Bowl

While a Big Mac isn’t my burger of choice from McD’s, I have always loved the flavors! Since I have been trying to cut the carbs, this salad hits all the same notes in a salad that helps get more veggies in. Another recipe that comes together very quickly for those busy weeknights. I do not make my own Thousand Island dressing since it’s not high carb, but you certainly can if you prefer. I thin out the dressing with white vinegar and add some garlic powder. This recipe makes two generous salads.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 dill pickle spears, sliced
  • sesame seeds to garnish
  • 1/3 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Add the beef, diced onion, salt and pepper to a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the beef has cooked through, drain excess fat.
  2. Divide the lettuce between two bowls.
  3. Top the lettuce with the beef, shredded cheese and pickles.
  4. Mix salad dressing, vinegar and garlic powder together. Pour evenly between salads.
  5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
